Charity bids to bring some Christmas cheer to those less fortunate

During December the charity Music in Hospitals (MiH) will provide around 200 live concerts for people of all ages in hospitals, care homes and hospices throughout Scotland.

Music, songs and festive cheer will be delivered to healthcare units from the Borders up to Thurso and from the north east across to the Western Isles by carefully selected professional musicians.

MiH, which organises 1,700 live performances in Scotland's healthcare settings each year, aims to enhance the quality of life of people in care though these inclusive music sessions.

As with all its concerts, during the Christmas performances audience members will be encouraged to sing along, to make requests, play instruments and participate in any way that feels natural.

On some days there are as many as 20 concerts taking place simultaneously in different parts of Scotland!

“We are fortunate to work with a group of inspiring musicians and supportive care staff who together enable these concerts to bring Christmas cheer, well-loved carols and songs into the lives of people in care,” MiH chief executive Alison Frazer said.

"December will be busy: on some days there are as many as 20 concerts taking place simultaneously in different parts of Scotland.”

If you know of a care establishment in Scotland whose service users might benefit from a Music in Hospitals concert at Christmas or in the New Year, please let MiH know by calling 0131 556 5848 or by emailing [email protected]
