Shelter Scotland has announced an impressive line-up to top comedians for its first major Edinburgh Fringe Festival fundraiser

Stars from the world of stand-up are performing at this year's Edinburgh Fringe in aid of Shelter and Shelter Scotland.

Stand up for Shelter comes to the Edinburgh Festival Fringefor the first time this year.

The stand-up, cabaret and musical comedy event is the only opportunity at this year’s fringe to see Max & Ivan who were nominated for best comedy show last year.

The impressive mix of talent includes Live at the Apollo star Sara Pascoe, cabaret duo Frisky & Mannish, surreal stand up Tony Law, musical comedian Rob Deering and rising star Aisling Bea (nominated for best newcomer 2013).

Every ticket sold for Stand Up for Shelter will support the charity’s work to help families struggling with bad housing and homelessness.

Sara Pascoe said: "I’m excited to come back to the fringe and hosting Stand Up for Shelter is sure to be one of the high points. All the money raised from the one off show will go towards helping people struggling with bad housing or homelessness. It’s a fantastic line up and is going to be a very special night!”

Graeme Brown, Director of Shelter Scotland, said: "Every 11 minutes a family across Britain finds themselves homeless. The money that Stand Up for Shelter raises is vital in allowing us to continue our work of helping people facing bad housing or homelessness.”

Stand-up for Shelter is on Saturday 23 August, 9pm, at the McEwan Hall, Bristo Square. Tickets are just £20 and can be bought from Shelter Scotland or from the Edinburgh Festival Fringe box office.
