The Coalfields Regeneration Trust is pleased to announce the return of its highly successful Coalfields Regeneration School for 2016. Targeted at community and voluntary groups operating in our coalfield communities, the School is designed to assist organisations in planning for the future, developing skills and capacity, exploring new revenue sources and ensuring long term viability through a planned development framework.

Established in 2012, the Coalfields Regeneration School is a key part of CRT’s long term strategy to address unemployment in Scotland’s former coalfields. It was designed to address skills gaps identified in voluntary and community organisations which can result in them being overly reliant on grant funding, and less able to adapt to the entrepreneurial culture currently shaping the Third Sector in Scotland.

The Coalfields Regeneration School is open to organisations which are constituted as a charity, not for profit group or a social enterprise. The project must be delivered within one or more eligible coalfields wards. The Coalfields Regeneration School is not intended for larger organisations.

The 2015/16 School will take place on every second Wednesday starting with an awareness session at 10.30 on Fri 6th May, 2016
at The E Centre, Cooperage Way, Alloa, FK10 3LP.

The Coalfields Regeneration School will deliver a programme of training and development for a small number of enterprising organisations within the voluntary and community sector. The School will support the participating organisations in working towards a common goal of long term sustainability.

The Coalfields Regeneration School will be delivered over five day long workshops and events in Clackmannanshire culminating in a half day graduation event. Participating organisations will be expected to commit to sending a pair of representatives to each of the workshops. Topics covered will include planning, product development, creativity and innovation, business models and legal structure, marketing, finance and funding, communications and social media, employment issues and planning, as well as a visit to an established social enterprise.
