How should a new and co-operative media work, and what should it cover? Join The Ferret at Owning a Collaborative Media, our 2019 Summer Gathering to take part in these discussions.

Taking place from 11.15am on Saturday, 31st August 2019 in the Logie Lecture Theatre at the University of Stirling, The Ferret Summer Gathering will look at:

Media accountability and transparency - Does the media serve the people? How can we improve transparency? Where does the power lie?

Land ownership - We asked what to investigate next, and you answered. Do we need land reform? Who owns Scotland?

Privatisation and outsourcing - What impact does outsourcing have on the public sector?

Making the Media: The Future of Journalism

We will also have workshops on Freedom of Information and fake news, verification & fact-checking. These workshops, delivered by Ferret journalists, offer attendees the opportunity to gain the skills we use to learn the facts and undertake investigations.

A range of information stalls from groups and organisations will be present for attendees to visit throughout the day.

Owning A Collaborative Media will also feature our AGM (from 10am), where subscribers to The Ferret will be able to elect our directors and ask questions about our co-operative.

Each non-subscriber ticket comes with a three months of FREE membership to The Ferret.

A shuttle bus will be available to take you from Stirling rail station to our Summer Gathering with return tickets priced at £2 (included in shuttle bus ticket types).
