Goodmovers: who’s going where in the third sector

The Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) recently appointed Siân Lower as its new communications officer. Siân joins the team after two years with Stirling Council’s communications team, having previously worked in public relations for both public and third sector organisations, including a stint as PR and communications manager for Edinburgh-based charity St Columba’s Hospice. Her new role will involve working with SCVO and member/partner organisations to promote the interests of the third sector in Scotland.

Katie Ghose

Domestic abuse charity Women’s Aid has appointed Katie Ghose as its new chief executive. She will be joining the charity following seven years as head of the Electoral Reform Society. A barrister and campaigner, Ghose was also the director of the British Institute of Human Rights between 2005 and 2010 and was an independent commissioner on the Independent Asylum Commission between 2006 and 2008. She also lead Age UK’s parliamentary lobbying for older women’s rights at works and in public services and served as a trustee for LGBT rights charity Stonewall.

Sir John Elvidge

The former permanent secretary of the Scottish Government, Sir John Elvidge, has taken on the role as chair of philanthropic organisation, the Carnegie UK Trust. He takes over the role from long-serving Angus Hogg MBE. Sir John was appointed as a Carnegie Fellow on the trust’s Enabling State project in the summer of 2012 and has led the trust’s work in this area. He became a trustee of the Carnegie UK Trust in May 2014.

Disabled Persons Housing Service (Fife) has announce that Victoria Guest has taken up post as the self directed support volunteer co-ordinator with their Self Directed Support Options Fife Service.  Vicky is based at DPHS(Fife) Kirkcaldy base and brings extensive experience from the third sector having held posts at both Aberlour and Leonard Cheshire.
