Gilly Furmage

Third Force News has appointed Gilly Furmage as an editorial assistant. Furmage has recently completed a masters degree in digital journalism from the University of Strathclyde. She will be focussing on growing Third Force News’ social media presence. She has a wealth of experience having worked at The Herald newspaper in Glasgow as well as BBC Scotland.

Ian Rideout

Outdoor charity Outfit Moray has appointed Ian Rideout as its chief executive. Rideout is a long serving member of Red Cross, serving as operations director from 2003 until 2012. Rideout, from Nairn, is well suited to the charity, which aims to help young people, families, volunteers and communities through accessible and affordable outdoor learning and adventure opportunities. He has led alpine mountaineering expeditions, long distance treks, wilderness canoeing trips and has been actively involved in promoting outdoor emergency medical skills.

Dame Joan Stringer

National social care charity Community Integrated Care has appointed Dame Joan Stringer, of Edinburgh, as the chair of its board of trustees. Dame Joan retired as the principal and vice-chancellor of Edinburgh Napier University in 2013, after more than 10 years in post. In 2001 she was awarded a CBE for Services to Higher Education and she was made a DBE in 2009 for Services to Local and National Higher Education. She currently chairs Edinburgh’s Festival City Theatres Trust, is a member of the board of the National Theatre of Scotland, and is a council member of the Royal Society of Edinburgh and the Institute of Directors.

Louise Linton

Edinburgh based animal charity Any Dog’il do has appointed Louise Linton as an ambassador. Linton, a Hollywood actress who has appeared in American crime show CSI and has appeared alongside Tom Cruise and Christian Slater hails from Dalkeith and is known for having rescued two street dogs in LA and now shares her home with them. Linton herself contacted the charity and asked if she could use her high-profile position to help publicise its work.
