Sistema Scotland, the Scottish charity that works to transform children’s lives through music, has announced the appointment of Peter Nicholson as its new director of music. Peter will assume responsibilities on 12 November and will succeed Francis Cummings, who left to begin a role as head of junior conservatoire (music) at Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Peter has been an integral part of the Sistema Scotland team since 2009, when he first joined the organisation as a musician. After thriving in the post for four years, he went on to assume the position of senior musician, before also undertaking the role of temporary team leader at Big Noise Raploch. In his new role, Peter will be responsible for leading on the musical and educational vision, advocacy, curriculum development and programming.

Radio Clyde Cash for Kids, one of the largest children's charities in Scotland, has announced Eddie Hawthorne, chief executive and group managing director of Arnold Clark, as the new chairman of its Board of Trustees. He will take over from Lord Jack McConnell who is stepping down from the charity after seven years as chair. In that time the charity has raised over £10 million and helped nearly 700,000 children and young people in the west of Scotland. Cash for Kids now supports programmes all year round to help children at all the most vulnerable times of the year.

Dominic Stevenson joins Young Scot as communications manager from Become, the charity for children in care and young care leavers in England, where he held the post of communications and public affairs manager. In this role, he managed the running of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Children in Care and Care Leavers amongst other duties. Previously he worked for The Fostering Network where he campaigned for the implementation of Continuing Care in Scotland. Meanwhile, Allan Lindsay had been named codesign and participation director at Young Scot. He joined the charity in in 2010 and has delivered a range of national communications and digital skills and inclusion programmes. Recent work has involved responsibility for Young Scot's Creative and Digital Media Modern Apprenticeship Programme and #YSThree, Young Scot's youth-led co-design process for their new three year strategic plan. Allan's new role sees him lead on Young Scot's Co-design service and youth participation across its services.
