What gets you out of bed in the morning?

My kids.

Do you socialise with colleagues outside the Christmas party?

No – I don't really have time to socialise with anyone.

What's the best thing about working for New Lanark Trust?

Working in a place with such beautiful buildings, set in a stunning natural environment.

If you were your boss would you like you?

No, I wouldn't be able to pin myself down!

What's your favourite ice-cream?

Well of course I'd have to say New Lanark Silver Medal Winner ice cream – pineapple, coconut and Malibu flavour.

Is the third sector a calling or an accident?

It's a happy accident.

What's the worst job you've ever done?

Working in Red Rooster in Australia (a sort of down-under KFC) for two weeks, which was horrible.

If you could give one piece of advice what would it be?

Be yourself, never try to be someone you're not.

What does your perfect weekend look like?

A weekend away with my family somewhere spectacular (so many places to choose from – Yorkshire, the Scottish Highlands, the Cotswolds).

What are you eating for Christmas dinner this year?

We'll be going for the traditional turkey.

Should all enterprise be social?

I think we need a distinction. It would be nice if more large corporations had increased social values.

Is this a rung on the ladder to success or your final destination?

I'm a fan of lifelong learning and if I was to say final destination I would see it as being too final.

Do you think you'd like Robert Owen if you met him?

I don't see why not – the World Heritage Site is mainly due to his teachings and it would be fascinating to step back in time and meet him, to see how his influence was at that time.

What's your favourite film?

Once Upon a Time in the West.

Which Brian Cox?

I would probably say Professor Brian Cox as I heard him give a brilliant speech at a conference, but would also love to meet the actor Brian Cox.
