When you look at the giving as a % of their wealth they are far from Scotland's most generous. The Weir's for example gave £0.5M. This is a small fraction of the interest they will be receiving on their wealth. There are a lot more people who should classed as most generous as they give a lot more of a % of their wealth. People on this list could be doing so much more and should not be classed as the most generous. They maybe give the most money but that is a very different thing from being generous and giving a significant part of your wealth to help people in need. .

You list the Marquess of Bute as one of Scotland's most generous and then tell us he donates only to his own house (trust?) and his own private estates (trust?) He is in my view giving to his own means of quite lawfully not paying tax. That is not wrong but it is not generous.

You state that the Marquess of Bute is amongst Scotland's most generous and then tell us that recipients of his generosity are his own house and lands, which may be in trust for tax reasons but that is a technicality. It is, I am sure, perfectly legal as a process but his supporting it cannot be described as generosity.
