ICAP's annual Charity Day will return next week, having raised £8.2 million last year

One of the UK's biggest finance firms hopes to raise close to £10 million for charity next week.

Financial firm ICAP has announced that its annual Charity Day will return on Tuesday (5 December).

The initiative sees the financial broker donate all of its revenues from the day to good causes – and has raised almost £135 million for more than 2,200 charities worldwide since it was launched in December 1993.

John Phizackerley, group chief executive officer of ICAP, said: “Charity Day is one of the many things ICAP can be proud of and I’m delighted that we are taking stewardship of the event in its 25th year.

“This year, a further 12 UK charities will benefit directly from the funds we raise in London on Charity Day, with 50% of the funds being focused towards social mobility, something that I am extremely passionate about.”

The UK charities that will benefit are: Bliss, Cardboard Citizens, Centrepoint, CoppaFeel!, Haven House, Into Film, Kids Inspire, Medical Detection Dogs, Rays of Sunshine, Riding for the Disabled, The Clink Charity and The Lord Mayor’s Appeal.
