Jen Ang has been with JustRight Scotland for seven years. 

A founding director of a Scottish legal charity has announced she is to move on after seven years in the role. 

Jen Ang will leave JustRight Scotland (JRS) in March next year, having served as director of development and policy. 

The charity uses the law to defend and extend people's rights, working in partnership with like-minded organisations who share our vision of a fairer and more equal Scotland.

Jen has been responsible for strategy and development as well as oversight of the charity’s policy, communications and training - leading JRS’ social enterprise, JRS Knowhow.

An experienced human rights lawyer qualified to practice in Scotland, England and Wales, and New York State, she is a legal expert on asylum, human rights and children’s rights, and on the rights of survivors of torture. 

Jen is also an experienced lecturer in law with the Open University, lecturing on Scots law and the law of England and Wales. 

In a statement on social media, the charity wrote: “After seven years, our founding director 

Jen Ang is moving on from JustRight Scotland in March 2024.

“We’re so grateful for her contributions to our organisation, her guidance and her optimism even in challenging circumstances.

“Having worked closely with Emma Hutton, Andrew Sirel, and Barbara Bolton on the next phase of JRS, including our new strategic plan which will be launched in early 2024, Jen is proud of & excited for this team representing the next generation of human rights defenders in Scotland.

“We wish her every success in her new journey supporting social justice and human rights movements across Scotland and across borders.”

Responding to the announcement, Jen Ang wrote: “Thanks and so much Iove to our entire

“You built this amazing place with hard work, heart and hope - and made it possible for me to move on. So proud of - and so grateful to - you all!”
