New funding will allow the Green Action Trust to rapidly expand its work.

A Scottish environmental charity is set to scale up its response to the climate emergency as it expands with the creation of new posts across the country. 

The Green Action Trust intends to scale up its response to the crises by inviting applications for six positions that will undertake work across a broad portfolio of environmental projects and initiatives.

The Trust works extensively with the Scottish Government and its key agencies as well as most of Scotland’s local authorities. 

The charity has responsibility for delivery of the Central Scotland Green Network, which is one of the largest green infrastructure programmes in Europe. 

The Trust is also known for its range of environmental services which include woodland creation and management, productive use of vacant and derelict land, greenspace development, green infrastructure, environmental surveys, community engagement and spatial planning and design.

The Scottish Government are among those whose funding allows for the creation of these new posts. 

Chief executive of the Green Action Trust, Derek Robertson, said: “It is important for the Trust to respond to the significant interest there is from businesses, agencies and organisations who are now ready to take action on climate change and biodiversity loss. 

“By adding further capacity to our team, the Trust will be able to assist partners, reach more people and substantially increase our environmental impact for communities across Scotland.
