Is it degrading to stop asylum seekers from working?
Poll results (total votes: 126)
Alison Thewliss, the SNP MP for Glasgow Central constituency, says it is "degrading" that asylum seekers are not allowed to seek employment.
The argument has stood since 2002 that since applications are meant to be processed within six months working is not an option.
However, Thewliss stresses that it takes years for many asylum seekers to appeal their right to remain in the UK and have to rely on state support and charity handouts to survive.
So we are asking this week if Thewliss has a point – Is it degrading to stop asylum seekers from working?
