An American hunting enthusiast drew widespread condemnation for the killing of wild goats in Scotland this week.

Larysa Switlyk, who calls herself a “professional huntress and angler”, sparked outrage on social media after publishing a string of social media posts boasting about her shooting exploits in Islay.

The controversy resulted in politicians calling for an investigation into trophy hunting in Scotland.

The Scottish Government said that although responsible and appropriate culling of animals is a necessary part of sustainable land management, it would consider whether any legal changes are required to prevent hunting for sports.
