“We will also have a strong piano presence at a number of events throughout the year including: the West End & Merchant City Festivals, Gartnavel Royal Hospital Carnival week and the BBC's five-day pop-up festival in June, BBC Music at the Quay where we will have a number of pianos on site available for everyone to play freely.”

Awards for All Scotland is a partnership by sportscotland and Big Lottery Fund gives groups a chance to apply for a grant of between £500 and £10,000 for projects that aim to help improve local communities and the lives of people most in need.

The programme re-opened to applications on 4 August with a new and improved simpler application form.

An Awards for All spokesperson, said: “Today we are announcing over £1 million that will benefit a range of community projects across Scotland. Glasgow Piano City is a great example of a project that brings communities together through the universal language of music and art. All of these grants show the variety of community projects that can be funded through Awards For All.”
