Tenants to benefit from new development

Developers have handed over 14 brand new affordable homes to Albyn Housing Society in Aviemore.

The new development, Sluggan Drive, is part of a committment to bring 750 new homes to the Highlands by 2020.

Made up of 14 modern homes, 10 are being made available for social rent while four will be available for mid-market rent.

It represents a total investment of £1.9 million including £1m support from the Scottish Government.

Davall Developments Ltd began construction on the site in May 2017, with the handover to Albyn Housing Society now complete.

Calum Macaulay, chief executive at Albyn Housing Society, said: “Bringing new, good quality homes to the people of the Highlands is at the top of our agenda, and these new units in Aviemore will hopefully relieve some of the demand we are experiencing in this area.

“As a housing association, we are ambitious to maintain our status as an affordable housing developer of scale. We’ll do this by building quality, affordable, energy efficient homes for rent and for sale in the communities that need them most.”

Established in 1973, Albyn is based in Invergordon and has over 3,000 properties for rent and has sold several hundred as part of the LIFT shared equity scheme across the Highlands.
