This news post is over 7 years old

Bidding is already into the thousands for the piece of historic sporting memorabilia

Big serving and even bigger hearted tennis ace Andy Murray has literally donated the shirt off his back to charity.

The Wimbledon champion has put the T-shirt he wore as he defeated Milos Raonic in the final at the All England Club up for auction on behalf of charity Malaria No More UK.

Bidding has already surpassed £2,000 with a week still remaining.

The shirt which features the Malaria No More logo on its sleeve has also been signed by the double Wimbledon champ.

“I’m proud to donate the t-shirt I wore when I won Wimbledon 2016 to help make malaria no more,” Murray said.

“We have a real shot at winning the fight against this disease and saving millions of lives. Please bid generously!”

A spokesperson for the charity said: "Although malaria still claims the life of a child every two minutes, Malaria No More UK is part of a global effort that has seen major progress in rolling back the disease.

"Funds raised through the auction will help work towards ending malaria in our lifetimes."

If you fancy making a bid visit the Charity Stars auction website before 28 July.
