A new animated film aims to give a better understanding of the role of charities in the modern world.

As part of a bid to build trust and a better understanding of Scotland's third sector, the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations launched its I Love Charity campaign earlier this year.

And now an animated film has been created which aims to give those outwith the sector more information on the great work carried out by charities, and to counter misconceptions people may have on what charities are.

The film examines subjects such as how much the sector contributes to the Scottish economy, the wide variety of groups that are considered as charities and what the charity sector is all about.

It was unveiled at the organisation's parliamentary reception this evening (Wednesday 26 September).

Andrew Burns, convener of SCVO, said: “We created this short film animation as part of our I Love Charity campaign, to enable people outwith the charity sector to see what exactly the modern third sector does in Scotland, and to create a better understanding of the sector as a whole.

"While the campaign aims to inspire trust in charities - focusing on good governance, transparency and encouraging charities to better promote the positive impact of their work - it also involves SCVO taking the lead on telling the story of Scotland’s wider third sector better. We hope that through this resource we can create a greater understanding and awareness of the sector amongst the general public.”
