Charities sign up for mobile donations

Organisations from across the UK have signed up to an app that allows users to send a thoughtful message to someone and add an optional donation

A new app which helps charities access mobile donations is growing in popularity.

Charity mobile start-up Thinking of You has announced its 50th charity partner, Parkinson’s UK, who will join charities including the likes of Shelter, Children with Cancer UK, Brain Tumour Research and Make-A-Wish on the Thinking of You app.

Thinking of You enables users to send a thoughtful message to someone and add an optional donation to the chosen charity of the recipient or sender. Soon Parkinson’s UK will be able to be selected by app users for one-off or regular donations, and supporters will be able to choose Parkinson’s UK as their favourite charity for fundraising campaigns too.

Emily Sturdy, digital supporter engagement manager at the charity, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Thinking of You to offer supporters a new and innovative way to support us. There’s currently no cure for Parkinson’s but it doesn’t need to stay that way, and every donation through Thinking of You will help us to make life changing breakthroughs happen.”

Johnny Pitt, founder of Thinking of You, said: “Reaching 50 charity partners is another great milestone in our young life. It’s extra special to mark this moment with Parkinson’s UK who this year celebrate their 50th anniversary of driving better care, treatments and quality of life for people living with Parkinson’s. This month we’ve also welcomed The Royal Association for Deaf People and The Hygiene Bank as charity partners, and are attracting interest from charities right across the UK.”
