Alzheimer Scotland has launched a new campaign to help those who are battling the illness

A Scottish charity has launched a major funding drive to boost dementia support.

Alzheimer Scotland has unveiled a new TV ad campaign entitled #ImStillMe to encourage the public to take action for dementia and donate £5 this to help step up support for people living with the illness.

The commercial features four separate films of people living with dementia talking about their intimate and emotional diagnosis stories.

Inspirational ambassadors include Henry Rankin, Stewart Black, Archie Noone and Helen Kelly - who all talk about how they are still themselves thanks to support from the charity.

The ads will run from now until early December with every penny raised invested back to help improve the lives of people living with dementia, their families and carers.

Anna Devine, director of fundraising and marketing at Alzheimer Scotland, said: “Receiving a diagnosis of dementia can be a devastating and frightening time for both the person with dementia and for their families and friends but life doesn’t stop just because you have had a diagnosis.

“Staying connected to places and people who are important are so important to help those living with the illness and Alzheimer Scotland is working hard every day to put dementia firmly at the heart of the community to help those living with dementia live their lives for as long as possible. It is vital that we raise urgent funds to help us increase this vital support network and raise funds for urgent dementia research.”

Viewers are being asked to donate £5 by texting the name of the TV hero to 70140.

In addition to the new TV ad, the #ImStillMe heroes all feature in a series of digital films titled Made in Scotland with Love as part of a winter campaign to promote the unique Alzheimer’s tartan to bolster vital funds for dementia research.

Dementia is such a double edged sword honestly. My best friend's grandfather had dementia at his 90th. It was freaking insane to be honest. Literally different person with random thoughts and mood changes. Hell i'm glad people decided to boost dementia support!Regards, Stella M.
