A vegan make-up artist from inverness hopes to raise awareness of animal welfare issues after reaching the finals of a charity bake off.

Anna Czekala’s indulgent raspberry and chocolate cake now faces a public voteagainst 12 other finalists to see if it is worthy to win Peta’s fifth annual Great Vegan Bake Off.

Peta will choose the winner based on several factors, including vote count, and will announce the results by 27 October.

Peta director Elisa Allen said: "We were so inundated with terrific cruelty-free dishes that it was almost impossible to narrow the entries down to just 13 finalists.

"Anna is already a winner in our eyes because she's shown that vegan baking is a piece of (egg- and dairy-free) cake."
