A third sector leader enjoyed a day at the palace this week.

Patricia Armstrong, chief executive of the Association of Chief Officers of Scottish Voluntary Organisations (ACOSVO) was presented with her OBE at Holyrood Palace on Tuesday (3 June).

Armstrong – who is also vice chair of OSCR and chair of Scotland's Third Sector Governance forum – was recognised in the Queen’s New Year Honours for services to voluntary organisations.

She said: "I am humbled but delighted to receive this honour amongst so many amazing, inspiring third sector leaders who I work with on a daily basis. It's an honour very much shared.

"Working with third sector leaders is truly rewarding. I gratefully accept the honour on behalf of my peers in Scotland's voluntary organisations and to highlight the work of ACOSVO in supporting "excellent third sector leadership in Scotland."

ACOSVO chair Meg Wright said: "Pat's long-term leadership of ACOSVO has strengthened the leadership across Scotland's voluntary sector by shining a spotlight on the importance of peer support, good practice sharing and leadership development.

"The creation of the Leadership Exchange Programme is helping to inspire leaders from across the third and public sectors to share good practice, find a common language and have an opportunity to walk in each other's shoes.”
