The work of projects that support those across Scotland with the condition has been recognised

The top projects in Scotland for supporting those with dementia have been revealed.

The finalists for Scotland’s Dementia Awards, a partnership between Alzheimer Scotland, NHS Education for Scotland and the Scottish Social Services Council, have been named.

The awards, which are in their seventh year, celebrate the inspirational achievements of those making a difference for people living with dementia and their families.

Judged by a panel of leading social service, third sector and health professionals alongside people with dementia and carers, the awards aim to identify creative approaches and collaboration, innovation and best practice in all aspects of information, advice and care.

Projects nominated include Relaxed Community Cinema in Ayrshire, Football Memories Scotland and the Dementia Dog Project.

Henry Simmons, Alzheimer Scotland’s chief executive, said: “These awards are a fantastic opportunity to recognise the great achievements of projects and teams involved in dementia care and support across Scotland.

“We are thrilled to see so many positive collaborations taking place, helping to address stigma, break down barriers and ensure that nobody faces dementia alone. We look forward to celebrating the work of all our finalists and winners on the day.”

The ceremony takes place on 20 September at the Marriot in Glasgow. Full details of the finalists and how to attend on the night are available on the awards website.
