Some of the capital’s iconic landmarks will be lit up as part of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month's Glow Gold September

Nearly 200 iconic buildings and landmarks in Edinburgh will be bathed in gold tonight to launch the start of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

Initially formed by a group of Edinburgh parents, Glow Gold September now brings together parents and grandparents from around the UK trying to make a difference to families dealing with childhood cancer.

Their aim is to unite charities in the goal of raising the profile of childhood cancer and spread awareness of the early warning signs and symptoms.

As well as Edinburgh Castle, The Royal College of Physicians and Harvey Nichols all turning gold, Lothian Buses’ unique gold bus (pictured) has been redesigned, and will be used this evening for a special VIP tour for the Glow Gold parents and families to see the gold lights in action across the capital.

The company will also be turning its website and Waverley Bridge Travelshop gold in support of the event.

Emma Barron, member of the Glow Gold September team said: “We are thrilled to be working with Lothian Buses on Glow Gold September to raise awareness of childhood cancer. Their support has been vital in our campaign to drive the message home.

Richard Hall, managing director of Lothian Buses said: “The work that Glow Gold and others are doing to support children and their families at such a difficult time is so important and we feel really proud to be part of it.”

Ps;Cancer Awareness Month, adverts on buses. To add to my earlier comment, Scotland is the cancer capital of the civilised world. Yet not one MP brought this up in their manifesto, regarding their concerns about the future of Scotland? Those MP's involved in health must be made accountable for such neglect. If not.Why not.
