Founder Josh Littlejohn pulls off another stunning coup by inviting Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio to the Rose Street eatery

Leonardo DiCaprio is to follow in the footsteps of George Clooney and visit Social Bite’s sandwich shop in Edinburgh.

The Hollywood A-lister, best known for his roles in Titanic and Wolf of Wall Street, is understood to have agreed to visit the Rose Street premises when he arrives in the country to attend the Scottish Business Awards.

Social Bite’s founder Josh Littlejohn pulled off a major coup when he invited George Clooney to visit the shop last year.

Now it could be argued he has gone one better by enticing DiCaprio to Edinburgh.

It is reported Clooney's visit was arranged by entrepreneur Tom Hunter with Littlejohn's help, to raise awareness of the venture’s mission which is to help homeless people through employment and by donating food and drink to the city’s most vulnerable.

Set up in 2012, one in four Social Bite staff was previously homeless.

It launched what is thought to be the first ''selfless'' loyalty card in the country. It allows customers to save up loyalty points to buy a meal and a hot drink for homeless people after 10 visits to the cafe.

Leonardo DiCaprio won his first Oscar earlier this year for The Revenant.
