​Young Scots who volunteer and contribute to their communities are getting free tickets to this summer's Commonwealth Games

Young people who have earned points on their Young Scot cards through community achievements including volunteering are to be given tickets the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

The card holders are to be offered tickets to a range of different games events, including the opening and closing ceremonies, as part of the Scottish Government’s Legacy 2014 Ticket Scheme.

This gift of a ticket to the games is intended as a thank you to young people who have been contributing, supporting and volunteering with Legacy 2014-related activities, through the increasingly popular Young Scot Rewards platform.

Young Scot Rewards allows cardholders to collect points for a range of positive activities and exchange them for one-off rewards and experiences.

Activities through which young people have been earning points include getting fit at their local community sports hub, making a pledge to get active, applying to volunteer as a Glasgow 2014 ceremonies volunteer performer and being creative by submitting photographs of medal routes of the Games.

Young people have to earn 1,500 points to be in for a chance of claiming a ticket.

It’s fantastic that the Scottish Government have recognised their hard work and have offered this truly amazing reward of having the chance to attend the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games!”
