Bank of Scotland to help raise at least £2 million per year for Children in Need

Lloyds Banking Group has announced its main charity partner for the next two years will be BBC Children in Need.

The announcement comes at the end of its partnership with Alzheimer’s Society and Alzheimer Scotland which saw over £6 million raised for the charities in 2013 and 2014.

In Scotland, the new partnership will see employees of the Bank of Scotland, which is part of Lloyds Banking Group, raise funds and continue the work they have started as a Proud Schools Partner of Children in Need.

The banking giant aims to raise at least £2m per year and fundraising has already started with the launch of Bear Necessities – with employees giving up a treat like coffee, chocolate or alcohol and donating the money they save.

Commenting on the partnership Carrie Green, head of corporate partnerships at BBC Children in Need, said: “We are really excited that Lloyds Banking Group has appointed us as its charity of the year for the next two years, and are already seeing colleagues embracing the opportunity to fundraise and volunteer their time.

“Every penny raised by the group’s fundraising will go directly to projects helping to change the lives of disadvantaged children and young people, right here in the UK.”

Graham Lindsay, director, responsible business and community affairs at Lloyds Banking Group added: "I have no doubt that colleagues across the whole of Lloyds Banking Group will continue to play a key part in our commitment to helping Britain prosper, by giving up their time to help raise millions in much needed funds to help children and young people across the UK to reach their potential."
