Project to close after several board members resign

A youth project in Glasgow has been axed following governance issues.

The Greater Maryhill Outreach Project (GMOP) ceased to operate on 20 April and the charity is now being dissolved.

It was based in Ruchill and Kelvinside Parish Church, which was a partner organisation.

Talks were held with the church about its future after a number of board members resigned.

It supported children and young people with activities, events and outings in one of the city's most deprived areas.

Now church elders say there are grave doubts the project can continue.

A statement from the charity said: "The elders expressed clear and continuing support for the activities of GMOP but expressed serious doubts about the church's current capacity to support renewal of the organization and its partnership with the project.”
