Find out who’s going places in the third sector

Jamie Livingstone

Jamie Livingstone is the new head of Oxfam Scotland. Livingstone (34) will lead the Scottish team of Oxfam GB at a time when the charity focuses its global attention on the twin priorities of inequality and climate change. Prior to his appointment, he worked for two years as Oxfam Scotland’s campaigns and communications manager, having joined the organisation after a nearly decade-long career in journalism, including as political correspondent for STV News. Livingstone replaces Judith Robertson, who held the post of head of Oxfam Scotland for nine years. He is on the board of Stop Climate Chaos Scotland and is deputy convenor of the Disasters Emergency Committee in Scotland.

Sara Preston

Preston has been appointed by UK eating disorder charity Beat as a young people’s participation officer and will be focussing primarily in the Lothians region. She will develop and broaden a young ambassador scheme that will see young people aged 14-25 with personal experience of an eating disorder be trained, supported and given the opportunity to be involved in Beat’s work. Preston will also set up online transition support groups for individuals still suffering eating disorders. She was previously employed by Dundee Science Centre’s Science Learning Institute where she worked in science communication and helped deliver the Science Technology Engineering and Maths ambassador programme. She has actively volunteered for Beat throughout Scotland for the past two years.

Richard Hamer

Hamer has completed his six-month temporary role at Amnesty International where he was interim programme director for Scotland. Siobhan Reardon returned to the role last month. Previously director of external affairs at Capability Scotland, Hamer is now working as a freelance policy and communications consultant for a range of disability organisations and charities.
