The director of Shelter Scotland is taking over from Campbell Robb as chief executive of the national homelessness charity

The director of Shelter Scotland Graeme Brown has been promoted to the post of interim chief executive of the homelessness charity.

Following the announcement that Campbell Robb is to step down as chief executive at the end of the year, Brown has been appointed Shelter’s interim chief executive by the board of trustees.

Effective from 1 January 2017, Brown will be covering the role until a new chief executive is appointed.

With Graeme's years of experience as director of Shelter Scotland, the board of trustees is confident that the organisation will be in very good hands - Derek Myers, Shelter chair

Brown has been director of Shelter Scotland since July 2008, and prior to this was director of communications, policy and campaigns for Shelter UK.

Derek Myers, Shelter’s chair of trustees, said: “Campbell Robb has been at the heart of Shelter's vital and successful work for the past seven years. During that time we have helped more people than ever before and campaigned to ensure housing gets given its proper priority.

“Until we recruit a permanent replacement for Campbell, Graeme Brown will help ensure the continued success of the charity. With Graeme's years of experience as director of Shelter Scotland, the board of trustees is confident that the organisation will be in very good hands.”

Brown said: “I am grateful for the opportunity to lead such an important organisation on an interim basis, and look forward to supporting colleagues in both England and Scotland to carry on Shelter’s fantastic work.”

The recruitment process for a permanent chief executive is currently open, with applications closing on Monday 5 December. The board of trustees hopes to announce the new permanent chief executive in early February.
