CHAS is raising funds by helping supporters to host a special night in next month

This October, families across Scotland are being invited to enjoy a dinner party within their own households to help keep the joy alive for children and families supported by CHAS.

The Great CHAS Dinner Party was originally planned to be a one-day only gala fundraiser, but, because of the latest pandemic restrictions, which state that households are unable to mix at the present time, CHAS has now extended the event to run every day in October.

The charity has put together a party pack specially tailored towards family members of all ages in the run up to the October holidays to ensure that those who participate are able to enjoy a fun-filled evening together in their own households.

For the price of just £25 to take part – which is the same cost of providing a week’s worth of meals for a family at a CHAS hospice - participants will receive a bespoke dinner party pack, a discount code for a luxury Haar at Home box and will be entered into a prize draw to win a meal for two at top St Andrews restaurant, Haar, ran by top Scottish chef and former Masterchef: The Professionals finalist, Dean Banks.

As well as Haar, CHAS is working in partnership with, Glengoyne and Boozy Events who have all pledged to donate a percentage of sales from the event to CHAS.

Those who sign up to host their own Great CHAS Dinner Party can hold it on any evening of their choosing in October and can also decide on their own running order for events.

Entertainment options within the party packs include dance tutorials, a magic show and bedtime stories for children, including a book read by The Gruffalo author, Julia Donaldson, while for the grown-ups there is mixology, whisky tasting, comedy and music.

Famous faces supporting the event include Still Game funnyman, Sanjeev Kohli, and popular comic actress, Mina Anwar who are doing a special cocktail masterclass with Aberdeen-based Boozy Events.

Scottish broadcaster and comedian Fred MacAulay will also be hosting a whisky quiz and Glengoyne tasting session along with Whisky Experiential Ambassador, Gordon Dallas and former Scotland rugby captain, Andy Nicol.

Meanwhile, music-loving guests can enjoy tunes by popular Edinburgh band, BLEEKER, Scottish singer, KT Tunstall, Massaoke and Silent Adventures.

A silent auction will run alongside the Great CHAS Dinner Party throughout the month and guests will also be given the opportunity to enter a £500 prize draw.

Dean Banks, said: “As a father I recognise the great work CHAS does. They have continued supporting the most vulnerable families in Scotland throughout the past few months but like many charities they have been hit hard by the pandemic.

“During the month of October CHAS are asking the great Scottish public to dine in and raise vital funds for the charity and I could not be more delighted to support this.”

CHAS high profile events manager, Diane Alton said: “Throughout lockdown, CHAS has continued to keep the joy alive for all the children and families it supports and we want to share some of that joy with other families across Scotland.

“The Great CHAS Dinner Party truly is the perfect event to give family members and households something to look forward to at this uncertain time, especially in the run up to the October holidays, and is something they can plan and host from the safety and comfort of their own homes.

“To have the support of Dean Banks, Fred MacAulay and so many other generous individuals and business is hugely appreciated and we would truly love for as many families across Scotland to join us for this fun, virtual event to help CHAS continue supporting vulnerable children and families, who need our help now, more than ever.”
