Nurse will feature on a double-decker bus which will be at Glasgow city centre locations over the next eight weeks

Anne-Marie Gray is about to become a familiar face to Glaswegians as the nurse is unveiled as the star of a new campaign from terminal illness charity Marie Curie.

She features digitally on a double-decker bus which will be at Glasgow city centre locations over the next eight weeks.

The bus will highlight the importance of hospice nurses like Anne-Marie and call on the community to “Join Team Anne-Marie” and sign up to support.

Marie Curie wants to recruit 600 supporters over the eight-week campaign to join and fund a Glasgow hospice nurse like Anne-Marie for the next two years.

Anne-Marie, 51, has been a nurse for 25 years and joined Marie Curie 15 years ago caring for terminally ill people in their own homes.

She now cares for people staying on the inpatient ward at the Marie Curie Hospice, Glasgow.

Speaking about her starring role in the bus campaign, she said: “I’m honoured to be chosen to front this campaign and hope that people will be encouraged to support us because without it, Marie Curie nurses like me wouldn’t be able to do what we do.

“People often think the hospice is just there for people at the end of life but there’s so much more to it. We can help with symptom management and getting their medications right, it’s very tailored to the individual and what they need.

“I’m proud to be part of a team that is dedicated to doing our best for people, supporting families to make the most of the time they have left.”

The Team Anne-Marie bus will be at the Donald Dewar statue, Buchanan Street, until 29 April and at St Enoch Square from 30 April to 10 May.
