Scotland's newest Riding for the Disabled venture in rural Perthshire opened with a royal visit

Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal officially opened Scotland’s latest Riding for the Disabled venture in Kinfauns, Perthshire.

The group, which was set up by Geoff and Joyce Brown, showed off a display of five riders, who were presented with rosettes by the Princess.

The Princess Royal, who competed in the equestrian three-day event at the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games, chatted with both riders and volunteers.

Riding for the Disabled Association chairman Sam Orde said: “Her Royal Highness gave a speech of congratulations and support to the group that is flourishing despite having only been open for a little more than 18 months. She then unveiled a plaque marking the official opening of the group and cut the first slice of a magnificent cake.

“Miss Tilly Scrimgeour presented a beautiful posy of blue flowers before HRH and the party moved off to meet the horses in their stables.”
