It's a number that's spells doom for some, but 13 bull mastiff sharpei cross puppies lucked out when they were taken in by the Dogs Trust

When beautiful bull mastiff sharpei cross Millie, aged three, arrived at Dogs Trust in May, the team was ready to help her find the forever home she deserved.

However, Millie had a little extra baggage. The day before, she had given birth to thirteen puppies. Unable to cope, Millie’s owner asked Dogs Trust to step in and care for Millie and her puppies.

The puppies were incredibly vulnerable and unfortunately Millie started to show signs of a highly contagious, and in some cases deadly, infection, Parvo Virus. If it spread to the puppies it would have almost certainly killed them.

Millie immediately had to be separated from her puppies to receive the care she needed. That’s when the Dogs Trust team became surrogate parents to all thirteen puppies named Rocket, Magnum, Twister, Oreo, Ben, Jerry, Zap, Whippy, Solero, Calippo, Bubbles, Mini and Cookie.

Thanks to Dogs Trust, Millie and all thirteen of her puppies survived. Here is their story…
