Team Macmillan has 315 spaces to fill in Inverness running festival

Street dancers from Inverness are calling on 315 people to sign up for a running challenge to help people affected by cancer.

Youngsters from KC Dance Studios formed the shape of the number in a bid to get people to take part in the Baxters Festival of Running in Inverness for Macmillan Cancer Support on 27 September.

The charity wants runners to take up one of the places on Team Macmillan to help them raise £100,000 to fund vital cancer services, from specialist nurses and doctors, to help and advice for people who have financial problems as a result of their cancer.

Macmillan’s fundraising manager in the north of Scotland, Christina Keith, said: “We want to make sure no one has to face cancer alone but we can't do it without the amazing people who fundraise for us.

“Signing up to take on a challenge like this is a fantastic way to get fit or to stay fit.

“If you decide to do it for Macmillan then it will give you even more motivation because you’ll know that with every step you take, you are raising money for people affected by cancer.

“You’ll also get fantastic support from Macmillan before the event with your training, and on the day there will be people there to cheer you on to help you over the finish line.”

Runners can choose from the 5k, 10k or full marathon events, while children aged five and under can take part in the Wee Nessie race.
