CSV denies wrongdoing in Lohan debacle

Claims charity colluded to write-off Lindsay Lohan's community service hours

A volunteering charity has denied it falsely inflated the amount of hours a celebrity undertook with one of its projects as part of a community service order.

Claims were made in a newspaper that Community Service Volunteers (CSV) deliberately signed off hours in return for actor Lindsay Lohan (pictured) carrying out publicity for the charity.

Lohan was found guilty of reckless driving by a court in California in 2013 and ordered to do 240 hours of community service.

She arranged to serve her sentence in London with the help of CSV while starring in a West End production of Speed the Plough.

The actor was meant to undertake administrative and planning work for the charity, but it has been alleged this was mostly written off in return for publicity.

The Daily Mail article quoted a source close to the play’s production team who said the subject of inflating Lohan's hours was openly discussed.

“They knew they couldn't do it," said the source.

“The question was asked if the hours could be padded. You know, could they say she did 90% of it?

"CSV said they would see what they could do – wink, wink – and mentioned fundraising and publicity.”

However a spokeswoman for CSV strenuously denied this was the case.

"We take our responsibilities in relation to all kinds of volunteering with great seriousness and completely refute any wrong doing in this case," she said.

Lohan faces a court hearing on her probation terms in California on Wednesday (25 February).
