The Rainbow Muslim Women's Group is set to add its first paid employee

A group that supports Muslim women is expanding.

After almost two decades in operation, the Rainbow Muslim Women’s Group is looking to take on its first employee.

The Falkirk-based organisation provides social and economic opportunities for women from ethnic minority backgrounds, and is looking to continue growing after demand for its services increased in recent years.

“We are just trying to expand,” said chair Samina Ahmed. “We have three groups running every week now and many different activities.

“To do all the work through volunteering is now becoming hard, and we need somebody who can help lead the group.

“The group has changed since some of the refugees came. We started working with them to help them settle. We have also started a group for young mothers.”

The group are seeking a part-time project coordinator who can lead on new activities and events that are planned.

“They need to work with the organisation and to help us grow and develop,” Samina added.

“We want them to give us more ideas and they need to work well with the ladies that we help.”
