The Bank of Scotland Foundation has made £320,000 available to organisations across the country

Organisations from across Scotland are set to benefit from a new mental health fund.

Launched to mark Mental Health Awareness Week, the £320,000 cash injection from the Bank of Scotland Foundation is set to be split between a variety of groups.

Charities can apply for grants of between £1,000 and £25,000, which must be used to deliver mental health projects over the next 12 months.

Philip Grant, chairman of the Bank of Scotland Foundation, said: "As anyone can be affected and there can also be an impact on the lives of others, including family and friends, our new fund will vitally allow people across Scotland to benefit from a variety of much needed local services and personal support."

Maureen Watt MSP, minister for mental health, said: "Mental health affects all of us and the Scottish Government wants mental health to be something everybody talks about. Bank of Scotland Foundation's new fund is a great example of one of Scotland's prominent funders showing their commitment to helping improve mental health and access to support."

Applications can be made on the foundation website, with a deadline of Friday 6 July set.

So many of us are talking about the current inadequate mental health policies in Scotland and trying to engage with Maureen Watt but she has no wish to engage with concerned citizens harmed by the drugs most commonly prescribed for mental health issues. And so we have to petition the Scottish Government and campaign publicly on Twitter whilst she demonstrates no interest whatsoever.
