Transform Consultancy will carry out sustainable transport research that could change the way we travel

A sustainable transport charity has launched a new social enterprise that will provide research into the benefits of green travel options.

Transform Consulting already counts Virgin Trains, the University of Edinburgh and the Scottish Green Party as clients and has now formally launched a social enterprise.

Now it is set to even further investigate the beneifts of walking, cycling and road safety as well as examining issues around bus, rail, car share and sustainable tourism. All profits will be reinvested back into Transform Scotland's campaigning work on sustainable transport.

Earlier this year Transform Consultancy worked with Virgin Trains to research the benefits for travelling between Scotland and London by train. It calculated the carbon emission savings that have come from an increase in the popularity of train travel between Scotland and London over the last decade.

Damien Henderson, Scottish affairs and media manager of Virgin Trains, said: “Transform Consulting delivered a persuasive and authoritative piece of research exploring this subject which generated high profile and positive media coverage. They delivered on time and on budget and were a pleasure to work with.”

Commenting on the launch of Transform Consulting, enterprise manager Elspeth Wray said: “We are a social enterprise and all our profits are reinvested in the charitable work of Transform Scotland, the national alliance for sustainable transport. All our work is professionally project-managed and delivered by highly experienced researchers and advisors.”

Working with a range of experts in sustainable transport, Transform Consulting has access to a national network of transport operators, businesses, local authorities and third sector groups, alongside grassroots knowledge and contacts.

Now incorporating stakeholder engagement services, Transform Consulting will work closely with Transform Creative, which provides a range of design and communications expertise including marketing, branding and public relations.

Transform Consulting has also worked with Sustrans Scotland to draft several key publications, including a Strategic Review document.

Commenting on the work, Daisy Narayanan, deputy director of Sustrans Scotland said: “Transform Consulting’s professional and expert team is a joy to work with, diligently listening to what we wanted to see in the final designs and then delivering high quality products on time. Transform Consulting are efficient, high skilled and innovative in equal measure.”
