People’s Postcode Lottery hits fundraising milestone

Over £600m has been raised for good causes since 2005

The total amount raised by players of People’s Postcode Lottery has reached the £600 million milestone.

Since it began in 2005, players have supported thousands of charities and good causes across the UK, with almost £89m already raised this year for charities struggling under the impacts of Covid-19.

This funding benefits organisations working to end loneliness and isolation, support those living with cancer and their families, bring about social justice and fight gender inequality, provide clean water and access to school education for some of the world’s poorest communities, and much more.

The milestone follows the announcement last week of a new £50m cap on the annual sales of charity lotteries, meaning more funds can now be made available for good causes.

Laura Chow, People’s Postcode Lottery head of charities, said: “In just three years, players have more than doubled the total amount raised to over £600m. This is truly an incredible achievement.

“The funding that millions of people across Britain raise by playing People’s Postcode Lottery makes a positive and lasting impact to lives and communities across the country and beyond.

“It’s meant DePaul UK can continue to provide safe accommodation to young people who become homeless, it’s allowed Magic Breakfast to provide thousands of children with healthy nutritious breakfasts; it’s helped Marine Conservation Society protect our oceans and coastlines; it’s supported Dementia Adventure to support people with dementia to live healthier, more active and enjoyable lives.

“A special thank you to all the players of People’s Postcode Lottery and for everything they make possible.”
