Remember a Charity in your Will Week is returning with an exciting programme of events

A week which aims to boost charitable donations is launching its own pirate radio station.

Remember a Charity in your Will Week begins on Monday (11 September), with charities and supporters across the UK sharing their stories over the nation’s first dedicated legacy radio station.

The consortium’s most ambitious campaign to date sees legendary 60s DJ, Emperor Rosko, returning to the airwaves to inspire legacy giving.

The former Radio Caroline DJ and his colleague Tony Prince will front the consortium’s digital radio station, Last Pirate FM, as it travels the country broadcasting from Monday to Friday of Remember a Charity Week, encouraging people to have their say on the world they want to pass on to future generations.

This year’s campaign intends to get people talking about gifts in Wills, with content developed to appeal to the baby boomer generation.

The radio station will feature interviews with charities, supporters and celebrities (including Twiggy, Wilko Johnson and Keith Skues), discussion shows, music from the 60s and on air discussions with the public.

Rob Cope, director of Remember a Charity, said: "Remember a Charity Week is a great opportunity for charities across the country to get legacy conversations started with their potential supporters and to showcase the real impact of gifts in Wills.

“Broadcasting from a different location each day and championing legacies in each area , we’re looking forward to bringing charities and potential supporters together across the country and to inspiring the nation to think about how they can shape the world they leave behind.

“This year’s campaign is very different from anything we have done in the past and is only possible due to the involvement of so many charities. Working collaboratively, we can really champion the importance of gifts in wills, creating a cultural change that will take us one step closer to making legacy giving a social norm.”

Remember a Charity is a consortium of over 190 charities working together with the shared goal of making legacy giving a social norm. The consortium is backed by Government, the Law Society and has over 1,100 campaign supporters from the legal profession (solicitor’s firms and will-writers).
