A family fun day is set to return this autumn.

Ride, Ramble or Run - Poppyscotland’s annual fundraiser in the north of Scotland - falls on the final day of the Highland Military Tattoo.

The event takes place in and around Fort George, Inverness, and gives participants several ways of raising money for charity.

It is for all of the family and open to all ages and abilities, with participants encouraged to complete the challenge as they see fit. They can combine walking, running and cycling depending on the route chosen, and alternative methods are welcome. For example, previous competitors have taken part on a unicycle, while one youngster undertook the 5km walk backwards.

Previously known as the Highland Poppy Run, the event starts and finishes inside Fort George and begins at 1pm on 10 September. For those completing the course, memento poppy medallions will be handed out.

Poppyscotland north east community fundraiser Frances Beveridge said: “Ride, Ramble or Run will be a fun day out as well as a way to keep fit and to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Fort George. It’s also about getting those taking part to go the extra mile in order to raise vital funds to enable Poppyscotland to continue providing life-changing support for the Armed Forces community in Scotland.”
