Rough Trade records, which has retails outlets and an online store, has said it will give cash from the sale of the singer’s work to Cancer Research UK.

The world was stunned on Monday morning when it was announced that Bowie had succumbed to cancer, aged 69.

In a tweet, the record label, once the home of The Smiths, said it was “honouring the artist. Not commodity. Fuck cancer.”

In a reply tweet, cancer Research UK welcomed Rough Trade’s move.

The gesture has proved popular with the record label's website being unable to cope with the demand of visits. Fans are asked to be patient and try again later if they encounter difficulties.

I'm sorry but "cancer research" is NOT charity, it's - the way it's done now - unnecessary torture of living and sensitive creatures and probably also a couple of guys making money on the back of those who donate as usual... I can't agree with this at all.
