The winners of Scotland’s annual awards for innovation and success in social enterprise have been announced at an awards ceremony at the Scottish Parliament.

The top prize, Social Enterprise of the Year 2018, went to CCI Scotland, a landscape construction company which is dedicated to empowering people facing significant barriers to contribute to their local communities.

The Environmental Social Enterprise was awarded to Point and Sandwick Trust, a windfarm that benefits people throughout the Western Isles, and the One to Watch winner was Caledonia Cremation, Scotland's first not-for-profit funeral directors.

Social Enterprise Scotland issued a call for applications earlier in the year, urging Scotland’s social enterprises to demonstrate how they’re improving our economy and society.

Shona Sinclair, chair of Social Enterprise Scotland, congratulated all of the winners on their awards.

She said: “Congratulations to all the winners of the Social Enterprise Awards Scotland 2018. A big thanks to everyone who entered the awards this year, reflecting the diverse range of organisations that are helping build a better economy and a fairer Scotland. Alongside our new chief executive, Chris Martin, we look forward to the further growth and development of Scotland’s social enterprise movement.”
