Mary’s Meals has become an official charity partner of Southampton Football Club

A Scottish charity has become the official international partner of an English Premier League Football Club.

Mary’s Meals announced it will work with Southampton FC on fundraising initiatives until the end of the football season in June.

Beginning next month, the partnership will see all money raised for charity by the club split evenly between the charity and the football club’s own Saints Foundation.

Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow, chief executive and founder of Mary’s Meals, said: “We are hugely grateful to have been chosen as an official charity partner of Southampton Football Club. This partnership with Southampton FC will introduce us to a new audience of supporters and help us to feed more hungry children across the world.

“Mary’s Meals reached the milestone of feeding over one million children across 12 countries in spring this year. However, with 59 million children in the world still hungry, I believe this work has just begun.

“Our partnership with Southampton FC is one more step towards helping these children living in poverty-stricken communities across the world.”

Southampton chairman Ralph Krueger, said: “We are delighted to welcome Mary’s Meals as our official international charity partner.

“Our owner, Katharina Liebherr, has been greatly impressed by the charity’s work around the world and we look forward to supporting them.”

To start the partnership, Southampton, have launched a raffle at CharityStars.com for supporters of their club to win tickets to a ceremony at their training ground.

The club has also announced that all ticket booking fees for their Premier League game against Aston Villa, at their home ground St Mary’s, on 5 December, will go towards the charity partnership.

Details of further Southampton Football Club initiatives for Mary’s Meals will be announced in due course.
