Three new members have been added to the organisation's board of trustees as a strategic review continues

The Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) has revealed a trio of appointments to its board of trustees.

Wise Group chief executive Sean Duffy, Fiona Gillespie of Anderson Strathern Asset Management and Turcan Connell senior associate Kenneth Pinkerton have all been selected following a recruitment process.

SCVO convener Andrew Burns said the new members would play an important role as a strategic review at the organisation continues.

He said: “I’m delighted that individuals of the calibre of Sean, Fiona and Kenneth are joining the SCVO board of trustees. Together, they will significantly strengthen the breadth of skills on the board; and I now look forward to working closely with them, and all of the existing trustees, as we collectively continue to develop the next phase of SCVO’s important work.”

Duffy, who moved to the Wise Group after serving in leadership roles at media firm Newsquest and National Express, said he was excited to take up the role.

He said: “SCVO is a powerful force for social justice and change in Scotland, and plays a pivotal role in defining and demonstrating the sort of country we want to live in, and the type of society we aspire to be: one based on fairness, equality and respect, where everyone matters and is valued.”

Gillespie has worked in the investment industry for more than 25 years and is a non-executive director of The Children’s Hospice Association of Scotland (Chas), whilst Pinkerton specialises in charity law at his firm and is the chairman of charity East Park.

Burns added that he would recommend that Enable's Theresa Shearer should be appointed as vice-convener and that that Eliot Stark continues as chair of the finance, audit and risk committee at the board's meeting next month.
