A Scottish summit on sexual harassment will be held later this month in light of recent scandal in Hollywood and elsewhere.
The event is being held to allow women from throughout the country to discuss issues which have recently arisen, and how best to tackle sexism in Scotland and further afield.
Hosted by the Scottish Women’s Convention (SWC), the conference will feature MSPs Angela Constance and Kezia Dugdale, comedian Susan Morrison and trade union activist Pauline Rourke as speakers.
It will take place on Saturday 20 January from 10am until 2pm at the Hilton Grosvenor Hotel in Byres Road, Glasgow.
SWC policy and events coordinator Lorna Kettles said that the Hollywood scandal has resulted in women across the world sharing their experiences of harassment, and has highlighted the level that it still takes place across society.
She said: “The Scottish Women’s Convention stands with our sisters who have bravely spoken out and want to ensure that no voice goes unheard. As well as this, we need to look forward, considering how best to tackle the institutional sexism which allows bullying, harassment and abuse to continue on a daily basis.
“This type of behaviour fosters toxic atmospheres and cultures which must be challenged and eradicated in order to further advance gender equality across all walks of life.”
