Social entrepreneurs and third sector leaders keen to share their knowledge and experience are being sought to take on the role of Social Enterprise Academy facilitator.

The academy, one of Scotland’s leading learning and development organisations, is looking for new facilitators to lead its training programmes.

The academy supports the third sector with leadership, entrepreneurship and social impact programmes which take place all over Scotland from the Borders to the Highlands and Islands.

The majority of its programmes are delivered by practitioners – people who have faced the tough challenges of running and leading social enterprises and other third sector organisations.

Lara Friedman, the academy’s Head of Innovation and Learning said: “As social entrepreneurs and third sector leaders you have stepped up to make change happen in Scotland’s communities. When you think about the challenges you faced, the support you benefited from, and what would have made a difference to you, consider these might be the things that the academy helps nearly 2,000 people a year with.

"We are looking for social enterprise and third sector practitioners to join our inspiring associate learning facilitators that support others making that journey. This is a deeply fulfilling opportunity to make a real difference to people creating social impact in Scotland.”

The Academy also has hubs in several other countries, including South Africa, Malaysia and Australia.

Lee McGrath, director of ReBoot in Moray and a Social Enterprise Academy learning facilitator, said: “I’ve been a freelance facilitator with the Social Enterprise Academy for 7 plus years now, and what a time it’s been. My work with SEA has taken me around Scotland and beyond, meeting some of the most inspiring people you could ever wish to meet. Being part of an international movement of change is a wonderful privilege, and the academy enhances this experience with care and professionalism.”

Established in 2004 by the Scottish Government and third sector organisations, the academy helps to maximise the role of leadership and entrepreneurship in creating a strong, sustainable third sector. It works with social enterprise start-ups as well as the staff, chief executives and board members of emerging and mature organisations across the whole of Scotland. It is also a strategic delivery partner of the Scottish Government, named within the Social Enterprise Strategy for Scotland 2016-2026, and in the Internationalising Social Enterprise Strategy.
