Firm supports learning, education and employability

A Scottish social business has launched a new publishing arm.

Love Publications will publish educational and resource materials for children, young people, parents and teaching staff in the form of books, e-books and podcast formats.

Headquartered in East Kilbride, all profits will be used to support learning, education, employability, social care, and physical health programmes to vulnerable children and young people.

Lynn Bell chief executive of Love said: “With the launch of our new publishing services, we want to provide children in vulnerable circumstances with tools and material that will help them build resilience and coping mechanisms towards difficult situations.

“We recognise the importance of making these services available to our children and believe that this initiative will provide extensive support to children and young people going through difficult stages in their lives.

“Those purchasing these publications will also being doing so in the full knowledge that the money generated by these will be invested back into the community to support vulnerable children and young people.”

In its aim to support young, local and independent artists, Love held a local competition for Illustrators. Anna Chalcroft (age 23), a design student at Edinburgh College of Art and originally from the Canary Islands was announced as the winner and has illustrated ‘My Brother is Different’, the first book of this programme.

Debbie Irving, Manager at Love Publications added: With My Brother is Different, Love starts a new chapter in its journey to provide exceptional support services to vulnerable children and young people in Scotland.

“Through our up-coming publications, we aim to make a tangible difference to the lives of many children that up until now have had limited or no access to the help and services they need.”
