Food Train is fundraising after vehicles that provide a vital service for the elderly were targeted at the weekend

A charity is facing a sizeable bill after vandals damaged vans that help deliver food to the elderly.

Food Train staff in Glasgow returned to work on Monday to find that the charity's vans and a minibus had been vandalised.

Wing mirrors of the vehicles were ripped off and number plates removed, with the organisation facing a bill of several hundred pounds.

A crowdfunding campiagn has been launched to help pay for the cost of repairs for the vans which are used for Food Train's Meal Makers project and other services that help provide nutritious food for ioslated older people.

Meal Makers tweeted: "Very sad day @FoodTrainScot Glasgow, vans & minibus vandalised overnight mirrors, number plates smashed & pulled off! Hiring vans to make essential shopping deliveries to older customers. Hoping to raise funds to cover the cost of the repairs PLEASE DONATE."

So far more than £200 has been donated to the charity. To help Food Train, visit the charity's My Donate page.
